Who We Are
Dots+Loops is Australia’s post-genre music and arts series, inclusively exploring the spaces in between a traditional classical concert, an underground club gig, and an experimental art show. We take exciting, adventurous and thought-provoking live art of all kinds, and present it in relaxed, accessible urban spaces. Combined with a passion for community, social equity, and quality over quantity, our shows culminate in a unique performance experience, which has been consistently applauded by critics, audiences and performers alike.
Since forming in early 2014, we've put on twenty critically acclaimed concert experiences. These past shows have featured Australian and world premieres of music by the likes of Nico Muhly, Caroline Shaw, Kate Moore and Chris Perren, and collaborations with internationally recognised, award winning artists such as David T. Little, Bec Plexus, and Bang on a Can cellist Ashley Bathgate.
Dots+Loops is a highly collaborative and inclusive series; every performer, composer, audience attendee and support staff member is a part of the Dots+Loops family. Founded and directed by Kieran Welch, Dots+Loops has had the pleasure of significant curatorial collaborations in the past, with the likes of Chris Perren and our 2018 co-Director Allison Wright.
Our core team currently consists of Kieran Welch as Artistic Director, Flora Wong and Connor D'Netto as Associate Directors, and Emily Kuehner as Marketing Manager.
"[Dots+Loops] Feedback offered a sublime balance of artistic innovation and inviting, engaging audience experiences. If one were ever pressed to showcase the unique charm and potential of Brisbane’s creative community in one event, Feedback would do nicely."

Dots+Loops [Conviction] was some of the bravest and [most] innovative programming I’ve seen recently [...] A tour de force for both performers and audience, the level of focus in the room was tangible.

"A feast for the senses [...] Kyla Matsuura-Miller gave a stunning performance, not only playing with poise and drama as the soloist, but visibly leading the band to mesmerising synchronicity [...] There were several moments where irrepressible delight broke out from the tight rhythms and lush harmonies onto the faces of performers and audience alike. A fantastic show..."

"Dots+Loops Recomposed was truly unique [...] Everything about it from start to finish was awe-inspiring and I don’t even know where to begin to explain how much I enjoyed this concert."
Dots+Loops Recomposed in The Creative Issue, 03/07/2016
"With a broad range of local and international composers, and a focus on cutting-edge, post-genre work, Dots+Loops is emerging as a vibrant new player on the Brisbane music circuit [...] If the series can continue forwards with the nous, talent and dynamism it has shown [tonight], it will go on to play a vital role in Brisbane’s cultural scene."
Dots+Loops 5x4 in The Creative Issue, 16/12/2015
"Dots+Loops is the latest hip attempt to bridge the gap between art and the mainstream; to find that happy medium between the musicianship of high classical and the laid-back coolness of contemporary indie, pop and even dance music. And Dots+Loops succeeds."
